He holds a PhD from the Open University of Catalonia (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) in the doctoral programme in Law, Political Science and Economics, and is a research fellow with the established research group ‘Empirical and Applied Victimology’ (VICRIM), as well as a lecturer on the Bachelor’s degree programme in Criminology at that university. His research focuses on victimology in the broadest sense, and more specifically on the implementation of restorative justice mechanisms as a complement to the criminal justice system, the victimisation of vulnerable and/or minority groups, and the criminal justice system’s response to victimisation in offences against sexual freedom. He has been a visiting researcher at the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium, and a contributor to the European Forum for Restorative Justice (EFRJ). He has undertaken research into various topics related to his areas of research and has published in high-impact journals both nationally and internationally.
